Advance Guard® Borate Protected Wood is pressure treated with Tim-bor®
Industrial Wood Preservative, an inorganic boron-oxygen compound specifically
formulated for application by pressure treating plants.
The active ingredient in Tim-bor® Industrial Wood Preservative, Disodium
octaborate tetrahydrate
(DOT), is:
- low in acute mammalian toxicity
- highly toxic to insects and fungi
- odourless
- colourless
- non-corrosive
- not susceptible to thermal or photochemical degradation
Tim-bor® Industrial Wood Preservative is registered with Health Canada's
Pest Management Regulatory Agency under the Pest Control Products Act (PCP
Reg. No. 18879) and with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Reg. No.
1624-39). It meets Standard O80.0 of the Canadian

Permanence
There is no potential for preservative depletion when Advance Guard® Borate
Pressure Treated Wood is used correctly. Protected from the weather under
roofing, inside a wall system, or the interior of a structure, the treatment
will not be adversely affected by changes in humidity.
Boron has been used in South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the United
Kingdom for several decades and has a well known and proven record of
performance. Field studies conducted by independent laboratories, universities
and government testing facilities around the world, attest to boron's outstanding
performance, broad spectrum of efficacy and low acute mammalian toxicity.
